Here are our top 11 reasons, crowdsourced from the current staff team, that make Oxford Hub a brilliant place to work:
- We are a social space for social change: we believe in the power of people to work together and create an impact in the world around them, and that is exactly what you would do as part of the team. You will be trusted to get going from day 1 and run with your own ideas.
- We are small but ambitious: with seven members of staff, we are small enough to be daring and ambitious, but big enough to have an impact. You will have a say in critical decisions and ownership of your own projects, yet you will be part of a bigger movement working to engage more people with social action.
- Oxford Hub staff get a lot of perks: as an Oxford Hub employee you will benefit from free yoga with Yoga Quota, unlimited holiday allowance, and Tuesday treats (often in the form of pretzels and chocolate).
- We are constantly learning: with training days, shadowing opportunities, research projects and on the job development, we invest in your personal development. Over the past year, our staff have attended external training, organised peer support learning opportunities, and enjoy a range of interesting sessions at Marmalade, a social change festival which we help curate with Arts at the Old Fire Station.
- We host a book club- there are lots of keen readers in the team so we host a monthly open book club for anyone that wants to join us in reading social action books. You can see this year’s list here.
- There is the occasional office dog- our Hub dog, Raasay, visits the office and our projects from time to time. She is featured frequently on our Instagram!
- You will work with tons of great people: from residents in the community, local organisations and members of the University of Oxford, you will meet and learn from a whole load of inspirational people.
- We are part of a national and local network: there are opportunities to feed into national work and learn from other people working in the sector, through the Student Hubs national network. We are well connected locally, working with over 100 community partners.
- You can work flexibly to suit you: we have a flexible working policy which means that you can work when it suits you. Staff use this to train for half marathons, attend events, or volunteer to tackle social issues they are passionate about!
- The team are supportive and collaborative: we believe that people work best when they are supported and when we all put our heads together. Although you will be given a lot of responsibility and freedom, we have a close, supportive team who are always keen to help one another out.
- We have a beautiful office in central Oxford: we are based in the middle of central Oxford, in the heart of the colleges, close to parks, shops and museums in a beautiful office. See our Instagram for far too many photos of our plants and windows!
